Blu-ray goes biblical.

The Passion Of The Christ 2

The Passion Of The Christ: The Definitive Edition is heading to Blu-ray. Etched in for a 17 Feb release date this controversial retelling of Christ’s crucifixion is also receiving an AVC picture transfer along with Aramaic DTS-HD Master Audio. Featuring a trio of production commentary tracks (best is bound to be Gibson’s directorial natter) while numerous featurettes, Deleted Scenes and Stills Galleries accompany a feature that, although uncompromising in its visceral gore, will never the less receive an epic Fox treatment on BD.

Cheap US Blu

20th Century Fox

Fox has slashed the prices of their Blu-ray catalogue titles in the US to $12.99. American consumers can pick up films such as Predator, Commando, Kiss of the Dragon, Entrapment, Men of Honor, Chain Reaction, The Sentinel and Courage under Fire, for a mere £7.34, but whether or not we see a similar initiative here before the Christmas rush remains to be seen.

Go Ape On BD

Bathing Ape Logo

Retro releases just can’t stop surpassing one another. First Warner began its campaign to bring out cine-classics that both received, for the most part, great transfers and a nifty booklet casing and then Paramount dropped The Godfather bombshell as the seminal trilogy got ‘made’. Well, now Fox is in on the act as it announces its ‘Planet Of The Apes: 40 Year Evolution Blu-ray Collection’.

Featuring a near-endless list of HD extras to accompany the five films in this set, a 2.35:1/1080p AVC-encoded transfer and a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack all signal that the monkey madness of this series is going to be your new best (pri)mate in the home cinema.
