New HD Console War In 2011?

Nintendo Wii

Rumours abound today that Sony and Nintendo are both planning new consoles that could see the light of day within the next three years. Nintendo has reportedly upped its r&d budget recently, with publishers and developers claiming the company’s Wii will get superseded by a fully HD, backwards compatible console focused on downloading content. Sony meanwhile are apparently sounding out industry types with regard to a fourth PlayStation console that could also be powered by the cell processor and pack double the power of it’s predecessor.

Blu-Busters Delayed

Ghostbusters Sony have delayed the October debut of Ghostbusters and it’s sequel on Blu-ray. Although the studio announced both titles at an impressive booth at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, dates were never released, and it seems likely the films will now be held back to tie in with Activision’s Ghostbusters game – recently postponed until next year. The delay comes amid talk that Sony are looking to produce a new, updated entry into he franchise.
