1,000 Strong

Blu-Ray Disc

According to reports the industry tip sheet DVD Release Report now contains 1,000 US Blu-ray titles, with 841 currently available and another 185 scheduled for release. Rentailers Netflix are shortly set to unveil HD movie streaming online, so the news that Blu-ray has so many titles available will only push the competition in the HD arena.

Apple on the up

We love a high-def first at HD Review, so here we go with the latest revelation in the buzzing world of all things pristine and 1080p… Apple recently announced that it has struck the one million mark on its HD TV download service. Nestled within a hefty two hundred million shows that have been shifted since the company began distributing video content, this vital stat bodes well for us across the pond. The inclusion of more HD content on its Apple’s marketplace must surely beckon with the demand clearly evident in the numbers.

Samsung Cast Out The Net

Samsung have increased the desire for on demand with the announcement that a selection of its Blu-ray players will be able to stream Watch Now films via a Netflix account. Stating that both the BD-P2550 and BD-P2500 are ready and able to undertake this task users will simply need to grab a firmware update, then visit the Netflix website, add movies or TV shows to their Queues and sit back as this their choices become a reality on the screen via a seamless stream through the BD player.

BT Vision Goes HD

BT VisionStarting this month BT is entering the world of high-def entertainment by making a selection of new and catalogue movies available on it’s BT Vision IPTV service. Perusing a V-box, users will now be able to spot movies in the format by the trusty ‘HD’ logo tagged onto exciting launch titles such as ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’, ‘Hulk’ and, er, ‘Babe’. Encoded in 1080i and featured in Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, the future of on-demand entertainment continues.
