Prepare For Trek-Mania

Star Trek Blu Ray

Off the back of Star Trek’s rebooted cinematic adventure, Trekkies can also brace themselves for Star Trek I-VI to warp onto Blu-ray. Rushing headlong past the mere rumour stages everything from The Wrath Of Khan to The Search For Spock will appear in what will no doubt be a carefully rendered Paramount release. Coupled with this, fans of The Next Generation can also mop their brow as word on the sci-fi street says that all four movies in this series will too be making the journey to Blu-ray.

Rounding off something of a Blu-ray extravaganza for the revered space saga, Star Trek: The Original Series - Season One will also be heading to the format. Keep your eyes peeled on our news for future specs and release dates.

PS3 Gets Blu Themes

With the release of the latest firmware update for the PlayStation 3 (2.60, available now) the console adds Blu-ray Theme support, enabling users to display special backgrounds and icons included on future Blu-ray titles. Much like the ones available on the PSN, expect Blu-ray themes to become yet another feature of movie titles, with the first reportedly Pineapple Express. The firmware update also includes support for DivX 3.11, as well as a plethora of new photo gallery features. For more info check out the video above.

Silence Of The Lambs On Blu-ray

Silence Of The LambsMGM has announced details of The Silence Of The Lambs on BD. Set to thrill in high-def on its 3 March release date, the specs show that it will be a strong catalogue release. Although these supplements are ported over from DVD, an MPEG-4 transfer and accompanying DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack single this Oscar winner out as a tantalising title.

Never Say Never Again Joins The Bond Roster

Goldfinger Blu-ray  Moonraker Blu-ray  world is not enough blu-ray  Never Say Never Again BD art

As Moonraker, Goldfinger and The World Is Not Enough get the go-ahead for a 24 March release date, MGM has also added unofficial Bond clunker Never Say Never Again to the roster.

Lighter on extras than the aforementioned trio, this Sean Connery-starring Bond outing will enjoy the franchise-standard treatment of an MPEG-4 transfer and a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. Extras will include an audio commentary with director Irvin Kershner, three featurettes, an image gallery and a theatrical trailer.

Despite having a release date to coincide with the other Bonds, including Quantum Of Solace, this unofficial 007 won’t be offered in any of the franchise’s boxsets.
