TDK Breaks BD Records

The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight has become the fastest selling Blu-ray title in the UK so far, selling 107,000 copies on the format after its first day on sale, accounting for a considerable 21 per cent of all day one disc sales. Released on December 8, the title actually appeared in the UK a day before debuting in the US; if the sales figures there follow suit, The Dark Knight could be the biggest BD since Iron Man across the pond. We’ll keep you posted as and when the numbers materialise.

GTA IV Troubles PC Users

GTA IV

The PC version of Grand Theft Auto has caused gamers a variety of technical problems following its recent release, with poor frame rates (even on lightning quick machines), low level draw distances, missing textures and crashes among the issues reported. Rockstar has acknowledged a number of the problems, and is working on a patch to fix the game which successfully debuted on consoles in April.

Kurosawa On Blu-ray

 Rashomon

Fans of legendary helmer Akira Kurosawa can rejoice as some of his most revered films have received the green light for the Blu treatment. Encased in a boxset ‘Rashomon’, ‘Ran’, ‘Madadayo’, and ‘The Quiet Duel (Shizukanaru Ketto) will all boast far from feudal 1080p transfers. Specs are still on the down low, but an inclusive booklet hints that this could be quite a significant retro import on its 6 February release date in Japan. English subtitles are yet to be confirmed.
