Hitting US shelves from 13 January Fox have announced a barrage of great title releases that are set to grace buyers well into February. Starting with the iffy Kiefer Sutherland horror, Mirrors, things pick up with the likes of Mike Judge’s cult classic, Office Space and Alexander Payne’s Sideways all getting Fox’s loyal AVC makeover. Ending On Donnie Darko, specs and UK release dates are undisclosed. The full title list can be viewed below.

Movie pirates in China have been caught selling illegally copied Blu-ray discs by the International Federation Against Copyright Theft. A seized batch included titles such as Kung Fu Panda, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Wall-E, but the kicker for anyone that bought the fake BDs is that the discs don’t actually feature HD quality video.

“These discs are sheep in wolf’s clothing,” commented Mike Ellis, president and managing director, of the Motion Pictures Association, Asia-Pacific. “Consumers are being cheated twice - they are buying stolen movies, which are being peddled on fake Blu-ray format. The Blu-ray format offers a greatly enhanced viewing experience which consumers are just not going to get from these fake discs.”

According to reports the industry tip sheet DVD Release Report now contains 1,000 US Blu-ray titles, with 841 currently available and another 185 scheduled for release. Rentailers Netflix are shortly set to unveil HD movie streaming online, so the news that Blu-ray has so many titles available will only push the competition in the HD arena.

Just a small one but never the less we’ve been caught on the chops by a BD that is going to really rage come its Euro release. It seems that Fox Pathe Europa has got its mitts on Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull on Blu-ray, for a cross-channel French release. Starring Robert De Niro in a career-defining role this brutal brawler is a constant feature on many a film fans’ top ten list – and rightly so.
Set to be made available 11 February specs are unknown but there’s no denying that if this undisputed champ is to be faithfully brought to HD, it needs to be transposed from the superior 3-disc treatment it enjoyed on standard def DVD.

Universal has announced that the Coen Brothers’ latest screwball comedy ‘Burn After Reading’ is set to hit Blu-ray in December over in the US. Still on its theatrical release over here, the film stars Brad Pitt, George Clooney and John Malkovich, and will appear on a single layer disc with a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 channel soundtrack, with the following extras:
