Going Live

 Transformers

A clutch of BD-Live announcements has recently been doing the rounds with both Hellboy II: The Golden Army and Transformers set to benefit. With Big Red’s second wield of the chunky fist already boasting some lengthy and tantalising specs, the MyChat and MyScenes function is set to enable viewers to get chatting across the globe about all things hellish.

Also, the arrival of Transformers on Blu-ray is set to feature two exclusive – and BD-Live – extras in the form of ‘Robot Ninjas’ and ‘What Effing Happened in Mission City?’ Most exciting however is the rumoured prospect of Paramount using Transformers’ BD and its online functions as a beacon to all things Revenge Of The Fallen related. Here’s to hoping…

Anime Blu Times Two

Freedom Project

Sales of domestically produced animation on Blu-ray have doubled in Japan, compared to the first half of last year, according to the Japan Video Software Association. With a market share of 1.6 per cent (worth Â¥2,266,000,000), Anime on BD has increased in popularity, by almost 100 per cent, and rising for the rest of the year. The number of Anime titles available on the format in the west is also on the up, with ‘Freedom’ (pictured) hitting the format in November, following an initial debut on HD DVD.

A Brotherly Blu-ray

Step Brothers

Spoilt, bratty and err, a little backward, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are Brennan and Dale, or, is that Dragon and Nighthawk? Becoming step siblings these two maladjusted man-children bicker, fight and teabag their way through this comedy. Completing a hat-trick of Talladega Nights talent, director Adam McKay ensures the laughs are frequent and flowing

Arriving on Blu-ray 2 December we’ve got the full spec list for this year’s family-filthy comic smash:

- Commentary with Filmmakers and Cast
- Deleted Scenes
- Music Video (BD Enhanced)
- Dale vs.Brennan
- Line-O-Rama
- Scoring Session
